Advanced Document Management (DI1)
Domino and Lucene in Action
Datum: 11/09/2011
Uhrzeit: 11:45 - 12:30
Raum: Raum K3 - Veit Stoß

Domino applications support many crucial business processes in an organization. For example, in Slovenian public administration they cover a broad range of processes, such as document management, diplomatic dispatches, legislative process, and so on. On the one hand, these applications manage a large amount of text data. On the other hand, the Domino platform does not support advanced text analysis techniques, such as text search in more than one database, entity extraction, and text clustering. These techniques can improve discovery of useful and unexpected knowledge in large amount of text data.

The presentation will show solutions (few functionality and best practices) aimed at efficient knowledge discovery in documents. The solutions based on IBM Lotus Domino and Lucene Open Source platforms. They are developed by company SRC doo and General Police Directorate of Slovenia. Thus, the presentation will cover both sides. The first speaker is from company SRC doo, and the another one from customer side - General Police Directorate of Slovenia. They will briefly describe functionality and will be available for any technical questions.

Presentation objective

Problems
The presentation is focused on the problem of efficient discovery and providing of useful information stored in the Domino based document system. Considering a large amount of various documents stored in many databases that are daily produced by business processes this is not trivial. For example, the document management systems in some Slovenian’ ministries are composed of more than 70 various Domino databases. In general, each of them includes its own search engine. Thus, users have to search certain key word separately in each database. Moreover, the efficient document system must be able to automatically push useful and unexpected information to users.

Solution
- Presented solution intends to provide useful information stored in the Domino based document system to the right person at the right time.
- The solution is based on advanced text analysis techniques.
- Functionality of the presented solution:
